On Monday 18th April 2016, Luton Borough Council Chief Executive, Mr Trevor Holden, visited Lealands to talk to our Year 7 students about the exciting new developments proposed for Luton, how they will affect them and offer new opportunities and employment for young people in the future.

On Monday 18th April 2016, Luton Borough Council Chief Executive, Mr Trevor Holden, visited Lealands to talk to our Year 7 students about the exciting new developments proposed for Luton, how they will affect them and offer new opportunities and employment for young people in the future.

Mr Holden informed them how his job is to make sure Luton can offer the best job opportunities for young people and to ensure Luton has the ‘wow factor’. He emphasised to them that Luton is a town to be proud of and they are entitled to have as much ambition as those from other areas of the UK.

He said, “You can be whatever you want, no matter where life takes you. Have ambitions and aim high. Grab life with both hands and use the opportunities available to you in Luton. Be the best you can be!”

Mr Holden’s visit was a follow on from the launch of Luton’s £1.5 billion investment programme which took place on Friday 15th April in London and was attended by a group of Lealands Year 10 students. The investment will be used for new developments, which include; a new, £260 million passenger transit system between Luton Parkway Station and Luton Airport and mixed use developments around the town. These will help to boost the economy of the town, therefore, offering fantastic job opportunities when the students finish their education.
