Headteacher's Introduction

Lealands High School is a high-achieving, comprehensive Foundation school located in Sundon Park, on the northern edge of Luton. We are extremely proud to provide an outstanding education for students aged 11 to 16.

Driven by our core values of respect, responsibility, and excellence, our dedicated staff work collaboratively to support every single student. We are committed to helping our young people become responsible, respectful citizens equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to lead successful, fulfilled lives.

Joining Lealands is the start of an exciting journey filled with fantastic opportunities, inspiring teaching, and superb support, giving every student the best possible chance to "climb the mountain to success” and achieve the best in their education. The journey through Lealands shows students the pathway to success.

Lealands is a modern and extremely well-equipped school with fantastic specialist facilities, including: indoor heated swimming pool; professional dance and drama studios, flood-lit astroturf and touch screen boards in all classrooms.  Our curriculum is broad and balanced and gives students a wide range of opportunities in a wide array of subjects.

Lealands students come from across Luton and surrounding Bedfordshire villages and towns. We are extremely proud of our diverse and inclusive community which is proud to welcome students and staff from many cultural and religious backgrounds.

Lealands is a welcoming, safe and caring school environment. Excellent student progress is supported by the hard work and commitment of well qualified staff who set high expectations to enable every child to succeed. We believe in the continual improvement of each individual within our school community and are strongly focused on reward and celebration. It is essential that students feel supported in their time at school and are helped to overcome potential barriers and enjoy their time in secondary school.

Ofsted (May 2023) report that, “Pupils new to the school say ‘It is like joining a family', and “Positive relationships with staff help pupils to feel supported and safe.”  Ofsted consistently judge Lealands to be good in all areas.
At the heart of our ethos is everyone working collaboratively in the best interest of all our students. Parents, carers, students, staff, governors and community partners all work hand-in-hand to ensure our young people enjoy their learning journey, build a strong sense of belonging, and achieve exceptional outcomes.

We are a founding school of the Lumen Partnership comprising of Lealands and three feeder primary schools working closely together to enhance our excellent standards of education.
