At Lealands High School we recognise the importance of publicly celebrating the successes of individual students, tutor groups, year groups or the whole school. There are many opportunities for students to receive rewards and recognition for good work, effort, attendance and participation in school events.
Lealands staff and students are proud of the successes of our school and the individuals within the school and are keen to celebrate these successes with each other. Each term we hold a rewards assembly to celebrate the successes of the term.
The assembly is a formal occasion, delivered by the Head of Year and Pastoral Support Manager outlining some of the events that have taken place and giving out prizes to individuals and tutor groups.
At this assembly the following awards will be presented:
- subject commendation certificates
- achievement point prizes
- sports awards and specialism awards for the term
- 100% attendance certificates for the term
- a cup and certificate for the tutor group with the best attendance
- awards of special responsibility status (e.g. Student Leader)
- any specific year group prizes
Subject commendations are awarded by teachers towards the end of each term and are given to students who have worked consistently well in the lesson throughout the term. There is no limit to the number of commendations that a teacher can award in a class. The commendations are added up and certificates are awarded in the end of term rewards assembly to recognise the number of commendations awarded. Trophies and vouchers are given to students in each year group who have achieved the most commendations.
Achievement points are given out in all lessons and recorded on our computer system for a wide range of achievements and successes. Students are awarded badges to wear on their blazers when they reach certain achievement point thresholds and special prizes are also awarded.
Details of rewards can be found by downloading Rewards Booklet below.
