Headteacher's Introduction
Lealands High School is a community school with specialist Sports College status for 11-16 year olds located on the northern edge of Luton, in Sundon Park. We are a small diverse secondary school where every student is known and cared for by a dedicated and professional team of staff.
In early 2013 our £17.5m refurbishment and rebuilding programme was completed, providing state of the art facilities and equipment. Lealands has: a sports complex including purpose built dance studio, fitness suite and heated pool; the latest Apple and Microsoft computer suites; a stunning Learning Resource Centre; drama and music studios…the list is endless and we count ourselves very lucky to have received the funding to create such a fantastic learning environment.
In June 2012, Ofsted commented on the excellent behaviour exhibited by our students and we are very proud of the way Lealands’ students work with each other and staff at the school. We have very high expectations for behaviour and achievement which our students constantly surpass.
GCSE results have improved dramatically in recent years with 87% achieving 5 A*-C grades in 2012 and 100% gaining at least 5 GCSEs. Our students make fantastic progress in a welcoming and caring environment. This progress is supported by the hard work and commitment of well qualified staff who work tirelessly to ensure that every child achieves. Read More...
