Lealands High School is a community school with specialist Sports College status for 11-16 year olds located on the northern edge of Luton, in Sundon Park. We are a small diverse secondary school where every student is known and cared for by a dedicated and professional team of staff.
In early 2013, our £17.5m refurbishment and rebuilding programme was completed, providing state of the art facilities and equipment. Lealands has: a sports complex including purpose built dance studio, fitness suite and heated pool; the latest Apple and Microsoft computer suites; a stunning Learning Resource Centre; drama and music studios…the list is endless and we count ourselves very lucky to have received the funding to create such a fantastic learning environment.
Behaviour was rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted during a full inspection in May, 2013. We are very proud of the way Lealands’ students work with each other and staff at the school. We have very high expectations for behaviour and achievement which our students constantly surpass.
Our inspection in 2013 praised the school in a number of areas, including commenting that, “The school’s motto to ‘Aspire, Believe, Achieve’ is an accurate reflection of students’ very positive attitudes and performance”. Ofsted also found that, “the teaching methods are varied and teachers’ passion for their subject is infectious”. We are rightly proud of our achievements as a school.
GCSE results have improved dramatically in recent years with 75 per cent of students achieving A*-C in English and 68 per cent achieving A*-C in maths. 58 per cent of students attained 5 or more A-C grades (including English and Maths). Our students make fantastic progress in a welcoming and caring environment. This progress is supported by the hard work and commitment of well qualified staff who work tirelessly to ensure that every child achieves.
