University Enrichment and Academic Excellence Programmes

Fifteen students in Year 10 and 11 had the opportunity to visit the world-leading Royal Veterinary College in London.
This was the first time we have run this trip and it provided a fantastic opportunity to see inside the workings of the University. Students took part in a number of sessions during the day that were unique to the University, alongside a tour and the chance to meet current students. The students had a very positive day, and I look forward to running this trip for others next year.
This term has also seen the start of ‘The Brilliant Club’. Fourteen selected students have been taking part in weekly tutorials. The programme is run in association with Wadham College, Oxford and 'The Scholars Programme'. It aims to give students the opportunity to access topics not available within the curriculum and to teach university writing and research skills. This year's topic is 'The Power of Language' and it's being delivered by a PhD student from UCL. The students have responded superbly and are now working on their final assignments.
