Junior Maths Challenge
The Junior Maths Challenge is a 1 hour multiple choice test. We chose the top 20 students in Year 7 and Year 8 to participate in this prestigious competition.
The Junior Maths Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning and problem solving in a fun way. It encourages students to think critically and these skills can be carried over to all other subjects.
We have had some really amazing performers and generally as a school the participants have been extremely positive. Our year 8s who attempted the junior maths challenge have shown tremendous progress with many going up by one rank. We have 5 who received gold and these 5 will be moving onto the next round which is the junior kangaroo. A special mention to Noah Platten who got the gold best in the school award. We have 6 students who received silver, 5 who received bronze and 2 who received the participation award.
Our year 7 have performed admirably for the first attempt at this type of challenge. We had 2 students who received silver, 10 who received bronze and 6 who received the participation award. A huge well done to our year 7s who gave it their all.
