Lealands’ Success at Bedfordshire County Basketball Finals
On 12 and 13 January 2017, Lealands High School participated at the Bedfordshire County Basketball finals. Teams of both girls and boys Year 7s were represented and Year 8 girls, following their qualification from the Luton based competitions.
The teams were placed into pools with the winners and runners-up of each going through to the semi-final and then on to the final.
The Year 7 boys team performed brilliantly and went through the whole competition unbeaten, meaning they were crowned Bedfordshire County Champions following their 19-17 win in the final.
The Year 8 girls also did brilliantly and finished their competition as runners-up in the county and the Year 7 girls in fourth place.
Lealands Teacher of PE, Miss Hambleton said “All three teams worked tirelessly during their games showing true determination. They demonstrated excellent skills and techniques which they had learnt in training. We are extremely proud of the students for their fantastic successes at this tournament”.
