Eduquas Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Performing Arts

Why choose this subject?

Performing Arts is a creative and practical course where students learn the technical and expressive skills to perform and the compositional skills to create their own work.  This course allows students the freedom to select one or more disciplines within the Performing Arts.  Students have the option to study one or more of the following disciplines: Dance, Musical Theatre, Music and Music Technology.

Course Content

This qualification is made up of 3 units:
 
Unit 1: Performing  - 30%
Performing Arts students will learn the skills and techniques needed to produce a successful performance of an existing work. This unit can be completed through any of the following disciplines: Musical theatre, Dance, Music or Music Technology. 
 
Unit 2: Creating - 30%
This unit gives students the opportunity to gain, develop and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the skills and techniques needed to create and refine original work in the performing arts.  This unit can be completed through any one of the following disciplines: Choreography, Composition and Composition using technology.

Unit 3: Performing Arts in Practice – 40%
Students will learn about areas of the performing arts industry that need to be considered when responding to a commission, such as resources, marketing, timelines and public relations. Students will consider these when coming up with and pitching their own idea.
