Introduction
Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg and Lord Sugar have all ran successful businesses. In GCSE Business you will learn the skills they use.
This qualification equips learners with the skills and confidence to explore how different business situations effect business decisions. It is a well – rounded introduction to the world of business. This will encourage learners to make informed choices about a wide range of further learning opportunities and career pathways as well as develop life skills that enable them to become financially and commercially aware.
Course structure

• Business Finance and Control
• Influences on business
• The interdependent nature of business
You will also develop skills in presentation, communication, problem solving and leadership.
Assessment
Written paper 1: 80 marks 1 Hour 30 Minutes paper
Compulsory short answer questions and compulsory questions based on stimulus material. Some of these questions will require extended writing and will assess the quality of written communication.
Written paper 2: 80 marks 1 Hour 30 Minutes paper
This paper will be a data driven paper, they will have to answer finance related questions. These will be answered in short answers and some extended writing.
The course requires strong English language skills.
A-Levels
GCSE Business can lead to A-Levels in Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and Finance.
Future Pathways
Business GCSE can be useful for absolutely every job. Business is particular relevant if you want work in Human Resources, Marketing or Finance in either a small or large business. It is also relevant if you would like to work as an accountant, stockbroker, recruitment consultant or be an entrepreneur and set up your own business.
