Why choose this subject? BTEC Dance is a creative and practical course where students learn the technical and expressive skills to perform dance, the compositional skills to create their own choreographies and the skills required to analyse professional dance. Creative thinking and problem solving skills are developed as well as learning the values of discipline, commitment and work ethic, which are invaluable in any career pathway. It also helps to build confidence and physical and mental well being. |
Course content In BTEC Dance, students will study a range of styles including contemporary, jazz and street. They will examine professional works and the processes used to create a performance as well as having the opportunity to choreograph and perform their own work. In addition to this, students will learn professional dance repertoire and develop and review their skills as a dancer. There are also opportunities to study production roles such as costume, set and lighting.
