2020 GCSE Results Information
The GCSE results will be released on August 20th. We are very much looking forward to the day, as we know you are. However, due to the current situation we have had to make the difficult decision that we will not be inviting students into school to collect their results. Emotions run high on results day and it would not be compatible with social distancing.
The benefit of this is that students will all receive their grades at the same time on the morning of August 20th; rather than having to stagger students entering the school. We will email students using their school email address, which will remain accessible until August 30th.
Please note that on August 20th you will receive 2 grades or each subject. You will receive your CAG (Centre Assessed Grade) which teachers predicted for your GCSE grade based on the work they had assessed in school. You will also receive your actual GCSE grade (Awarded Grade), which is the one which colleges and apprenticeships will use.
The actual GCSE grade, which the exam boards award (Awarded Grade) is based on the school’s CAG which may then be adjusted by a statistical methodology which is outside of the school’s control. This will account for any difference between the two grades. We do not have details of how the statistical methodology to adjust CAGs will work or what it will mean for final results. We are therefore, in common with other Luton Schools, sending you both your CAG and the Awarded Grade. Local colleges should be sympathetic if the Awarded Grade is lower than the Centre Assessed Grade as the CAG is what your teachers believe the grade should be.
